Inclement Weather
When the weather turns bad, OCC Transport will make every effort to keep buses running to get you safely to your destination in a timely manner. Please remember that road conditions affect all traffic, so buses may experience significant delays. If you plan to take OCCT during inclement weather, here's what you need to know.
Get the latest service information
Conditions can change quickly. Before you leave, get the latest updates on detours and changes by:
- Checking our website. All service updates will be posted to the front page of our website.
- Subscribing ahead of time to our up-to-the-minute text message update system. To subscribe, text “follow @occt” to 40404. Standard texting rates apply.
- Ensuring you are subscribed to receive updates from B-Line, Dateline, Rave Alerts and other University Emergency notification systems. We will strive to get word of any service changes out as soon as possible.
Tips to Ensure Safety
Often times, bus stops will have piled up snow. Please take extreme caution when entering and exit.
- Steps and aisles MAY be wet. Please brace yourself when walking through the bus.
- Call stops as early as possible to give the driver enough time to make a safe stop.
- Please keep noise to a minimum to allow the driver to hear all stop calls.
- Dress warmly as delays may cause wait times at stops to increase
Schedule and Route Changes
OCC Transport will attempt to continue service so long as the streets are safe for our buses and passengers. If the streets and roads are not safe for bus travel, buses will detour as situations arise. If a snow schedule goes into place, the following changes will take effect:
JC Westside:
- No route changes.
- Runs will leave the union on the hour and :20 past the hour.
- Also consider the Leroy Southside.
Leroy Southside:
- Will NOT service Beethoven St, Leroy St or Front St.
- Instead, runs will continue down Main St in Binghamton.
- As well, will NOT service University Plaza.
- Runs will leave the union :40 past the hour from the union.
University Plaza Shuttle:
- Will NOT service Oxford Rd (Hayes & Meadows).
- Will leave campus via Main Entrance, enter UP and return to campus via 434 W.
- Runs will leave :20 past the hour from Dickinson.
Residential Shuttle:
- No route changes.
- Runs will leave the union on the hour and :40 past the hour.
ITC Shuttle:
- No route changes.
- Runs will leave Mohawk on the hour and :40 past the hour.
Riviera Ridge-Town Square Mall:
- Will NOT service Rano Blvd, Burris Rd, N. Jenson Rd or Town Square Mall.
- Instead, will ONLY stop in Parkway Plaza by BC Transit stop for Target.
- Runs will leave :20 past the hour from the Union.
Oakdale Mall:
- Cancelled
Triple Cities:
- Cancelled
- Consider the JC Westside or Leroy for service to Downtown & the Westside OR the UP Shuttle for service to UP.
